Looking for a love guru...eh?

2010 was an amazing year, talk about ruin as an opportunity to transform! I felt like an octopus, tentacles in the air managing many exciting developments and partnerships for my beloved Suite Ta Bu. I am enamored with, as the meaning of my name implies, “unsolved puzzles” and personally I have solved a big one. What does love mean to me? Hmmmh, some of the lessons I take with me into this new season are to stop settling, waiting, making do, living outside my tribe and most importantly- riding myself of “nostalgia.” I now have first had experience, that the fantasy is always better left- in your mind.

I fancy myself a baby yogi, struggling with “sadhana” and it’s during these meditative times, I began to realize holistically, just how much I have given up in the past, to create, design and partner. Ironically, its never been worth it and the cost has always been simply too high. In these moments, I realize that manifestation needs a space all its own! Tim Ferris is right, some support you just don’t want and toxic energy does more than bring you down, it can infect you and disintegrate the essence that inspires you to create- if you let it.

It never ceases to amaze me, in this day and age, individuals place such a modest value on themselves, their rights and their ability to trust their own instincts and define their life experience! For many it’s as simple as the lack of courage to be authentic, after all what will they say if you’re not well behaved? Who cares, you'll never see "those people" again!

I challenge you to ask yourself “why do you care?” When did we as a culture start to buy into this “mass” everything notion? Mass style, mass vacations, mass music, mass ways we want our partners to look and behave and sadly, a one size fits all- mass definition of love? “Deep breath” in. . . Well, I’ve decided to take action and fear less! “Deep breath out”. . . a revolutionary path if I do say so myself and after studying the octopus a little closer I’ve realized that there is something to going with the flow (albeit underwater in the case of the octopus) and using all of your resources in a style and fashion that is based on your own strengths.

Possibly, unlike the octopus I am eager as this "mental space" is new, I realize that I have so much more to learn…..in this case about “pranayama”. So, for now I’m keeping it land and air bound. On this Valentine’s Day, I can’t begin to express the love I have for those of you who have personally supported me during this phase of my evolution but I do hope that the surprises I have in store for you in blog and challenge form, more than express the glee with which I have created my personal expression of gratitude.

I am now, gratefully, living a life, I never could have imagined and it is my hope to inspire you to do the same! It is my goal to be a muse instead of waiting on one, to ignite within you the spirit of self-evolution and for you to pay it forward vocally, fearlessly and passionately. As Dr. Temple Grandin once said, imagine a door, open it and walk through, that is how I have faced my fears.”

Inspiring sound bytes are wonderful and a great quote from Donald Neale Walsh is “life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” I’m beginning to think he knows a little something! I’ve often found that the notion or idea of “love” has a transformative impact on our lives and it is that connection that I want to learn more about and maybe one day experience.

In real life, the connection the word “love” implies, I am beginning to believe, is fundamentally the harmony we wish to have with ourselves, reflected in an external union. So, this Valentine’s day I am more than content, I am blissful, as I have just met the “love” of my life. ….me ( she’s pretty gosh darn amazing!*wink*) and before I seek anything external I want to make sure that she and I are deeply “in love.”

The Challenge: How does a word, whose meaning we all don’t agree upon, cause us to re-imagine ourselves, face our fears, reinvent and reconstruct shared dreams? If you think you can state it best- tell me, I’m on facebook search “Suite Ta Bu” I’m open to a love guru and in return I have a surprise just for you!

Not all who wander are lost,
