My Fave: Cruises

I got back from my cruise to Key West, Grand Cayman and Jamaica in late May and ever since I've been suffering from land sickness. As soon as my friends and I got off the gigantic Carnival ship, we wanted to get back on.

I went with three friends, two guys and another girl. We tried to go as cheaply as possible, so we shared one bedroom with four beds. Basically, I'm glad we were all really good friends to begin with. Our intent was to go to celebration my friend getting his masters in Engineering.

This was my first cruise and it was fantastic. The shear grandeur of the ship is striking to begin with. You see this huge sea vessel and it is a bit intimidating, but after two days, it felt like we had been on the ship for months, which was a very, very good thing.

There were two days when we were specifically at sea and had to entertain ourselves with activities on the ship. This wasn't difficult at all. Aside from the buffet that just screams, "Come and enjoy! Don't worry about the calories," we kept ourselves busy with the pool, hot tub, water slide and tons of events hosted by the Carnival staff.

Every night we had a swanky dinner where our Indonesian servers delighted in making us happy and keeping fun a priority. One of the guys I was with knew a few Indonesian phrases and they immediately enjoyed spending time with us. We all celebrated our cultures in a light and elegant atmosphere.
While on land, we went to the beach in Key West and Grand Cayman. Both were beautiful, but Grand Cayman was by far the victor. The water was so clear that you could easier see your feet. We walked only 10 feet into the water and it was up to our chins.

Our third destination was Ocho Rios, Jamaica. There, we went horseback riding on the beach. On horses, we were able to see the Jamaican Countryside and even ride our horses barebacked in the water.

The four of us had moments when we would just look off into the distance in awe of the splendor of our destinations. It was very hard to grasp the idea that we were actually in those places. It may have been the excitement of being on the ship or just having a good group to go with, but I definitely hope to go on another cruise some day. Soon!!

Now, when I'm at my desk at work, I remember those times and it feels like it was a dream that I was reluctant to wake up from. If I didn't have the pictures to remind me of all the fun and adventure, it would feel like a fading memory. With a little patience, and money, maybe I can make the dream a reality all over again.
