Puppy Love

I normally never recycle blogs, but I just had to on this one. I wrote it the day I brought Bella, my pup, home, so it holds a special place in my heart. I hope you enjoy!

Today is the first day with my new puppy. She's passed out cold right now, which is why I have the opportunity to write this. Something tells me she'll be asleep for at least another hour. Cause that's just what they do...they sleep.
If they're not doing that, they're pooping. I learned quickly that as soon as your puppy wakes up from a long nap, take her outside immediately. The entire reason she woke up in the first place is because she has to take a whiz. She took a huge crap near my television earlier.
Oh, her name's Bella by the way. That's Italian for "beautiful." I'm not quite sure what breed she is. She's most definitely a mutt, possibly with some Lab or Rotweiler in her. Judging from her teeth, she's about eight weeks old, and she's definitely the runt of the litter. A coworker of mine said her litter was found in a box on the side of the road.
People can be such assholes.
I think a few of her siblings died, but she and two others made it. I picked them all up, and she just took to me the best. She's very cuddly, and I am too, so it's working out nicely. Up 'til about three hours ago, she had a ton of worms. That was until I took her to get her shots earlier. She 'bout screamed bloody murder when she got the worm treatment. It's also the reason she had to crap so bad. She was farting in the car the entire way home.
Don't make fun of me, but I just made her a "mix" on my ITunes. It's called "Bella's Chill Mix." I'm playing it right now, and she passed out in like, T-minus-ten seconds. It's got everything from Gershwin to 311 to Led Zeppelin - all very laid back tracks that she can sleep to.
I did it to calm her down a little, as we kinda started off on a rocky note. I gave her a bath earlier, and she decided I needed one too. And she wasn't too crazy about the leash-pooping-outside part either.
That's really gonna be the most challenging part of this all - potty training. You can get a lot of exercise doing that. I'm at work during the day, so the crate will have to do. I'm definintely going to be coming home for my lunch break, though. Any advice from you guys would be greatly welcomed.
She's so cute, though - definitely worth the trouble and the expense. I consider this me dipping my toes into the pool of motherhood, just testing the waters. Hopefully I can take care of her better than I did Sushi, my fish. But seriously, I'm completely aware of the level of responsibility I've taken up today.
I'm in it for the long haul.

Bella with her first friend, Sam. Wasn't her little butt cute?

Don't get me started :)
My hubby will kill me if I bring home another puppy! I love them. They are so soft and sweet and cute at that age. You know how there are ladies with like a million cats? I would be that way with dogs if i could pay to house them. They are the best. What does your puppy look like now?

Awwww....reminds me of the day we got Annie Oakley. She was a rescue from a guy who found her at a hunting farm with a broken leg. She was all wormed out, needed to be spade, etc. After all that $$$ we still LURVE her. She's the best.

Both of them are super adorable "fighting" over that toy, I still wish my husband wasn`t allergic to dog hair....
