GIVE ME THAT SMOKY EYE S'IL VOUS PLAIT

Bottega Veneta smokey eye

Whether you're headin' to a dinner party or a night out with the girls mesmerize your company with a striking smoky eye!  I was inspired by the makeup at the Bottega Veneta Fall 2009 Collection where the models (see pictures above) looked classy & chic in their lush dresses, statement jewelry & the final touch- an enticing smoky eye!

My friend Chris, the best makeup artist I know, offered to demonstrate this great look for night step by step...so watch the 'fabulousity' progress below!

Step 1-base on the eye

Step 1: On a clean face (haha yes I'm exposing myself sans makeup!) cover the entire lid with a nude cream shadow.  This helps the smoky eye stay put all night long!

Step 2-caviar on the eye lid

Step 2: Using a black shadow, liner or something similar line the entire eye lid.  Chris used Caviar by Laura Mercier on me-it's a mix between a cream & a shadow so it wears well but also gives you that sexy smudged look!

Step 3-medium shadow

Step 3: Gradation time!  You've covered your lid in black, now use a brown, bronze, wine or other dark color shadow in the crease of your lid & blend!  Then use a lighter highlighter eye shadow across the brow bone to illuminate.

Step 4-line the lower lash

Step 4: Now it's time to pay attention to your lower lash line...Line it with the same black shadow or liner that you used to cover your eye lid.  Line the entire eye & smudge again!  For a final touch apply a few layers of mascara on your upper eyelashes.

C'est fini!

Step 5: After completing your smoky eye it's time to focus on the rest of the face!  Since you are doing a strong eye you want to keep the rest of the face relatively simple, it's all about balance!  Chris used Laura Mercier's mineral powder, bronzer & blush to give me a healthy glow.....Thank you Chris I feel sooooo chic & ready for a night out!
