Thank God you couldn't hear that through the computer.
Today is very sad for me because it is my last day as the National Web Editor for skirt.com. And more than anything--more than the incredibly quirky writing, the cute shopping ideas and all those handsome men in skirts--I will miss the people at skirt!. People...people who need people!
This inspiring community of bloggers, freelance writers, authors and social media geeks are my sisterhood. Always will be. It's like a religion. Never in one place have writers been so revealing, amusing and encouraging of each other. It is a rare space in the blogosphere, trust me. Beyond the skirt!setters (and tears are forming people) I will miss my incredible colleagues Heather and Angelia. (Blinking them back. Sniffling.) Truly, this has been one of the greatest working experiences of my career.
So why are you leaving then SkirtySteph? You may be asking yourself. Believe me, as I've worked with Heather and Angelia to wrap up everything on my end, I have often wondered myself. They are just that wonderful.
Well, I will be taking over as the Editor-in-Chief of The Atlantan for Modern Luxury Publications. It is an incredible opportunity for me, but that doesn't mean I won't miss the skirt! nation and won't be checking back in often to get my fix.I am like your stinky Aunt Ida that way. You won't be able to get rid of me that easy.
In all seriousness, and I often use humor to deflect real emotion (hello! I'm a writer), I will miss chatting with everyone regularly on the site, seeing what is going on in your lives and getting all of your emails about crazy spammers.
I am handing over the twitter reigns of @skirtysteph to the next editor and I know that they will pick someone truly incredible to be involved with all of you wonderful women. If you want to keep in touch, you can follow me @StephDavisSmith and I will definitely begin following all of you back.
While this is farewell for now, I hope to see ALL of you at the conference in Atlanta this summer and definitely will be hanging around reading all your amazing posts!

THANK YOU for all of your support, kind and wise words, and sisterly culture that you helped create and sustain here at skirt! You were always so quick to respond and reply to issues - I remember sending you a random email about some technical issue at like, 10pm one night when I was a newbie and just learning. And you replied in two minutes!! I felt like I was chatting with a girlfriend. Skirt! always feels that way, no small thanks to you.
