About Me

Political Leaning: Liberal
Name: Stephanie Davis Smith
Occupation: National Web Editor of skirt.com
Education: College
Relationship Status: Married
Favorite Music: Old blues. Son House, Robert Johnson, Etta James...but I'll also take Sam Cooke any day of the week.
Favorite Books and Writers: too many to list here.
I am most proud of: my life and how I lead it.
I am most guilty of: eating chips and dip like a ravished forest creature, being harder on myself than anyone else and being a complete romantic.
Words I live by: "If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write things worth reading or do things worth writing." -Benjamin Franklin
About Me: Stephanie started an illegal newspaper at her middle school called The Underground—which was printed on copy paper stapled together—thus beginning her foray into the world of publishing. She went on to be editor of her high school newspaper, worked at The Red and Black (UGA's esteemed newspaper), interned at Atlanta Magazine and moved to Manhattan after graduation with a dream, no connections, $800 and two suitcases. She came to launch skirt! in Atlanta via GQ Magazine. Already familiar with the ins and outs of women's magazines, she was an assistant editor at SELF Magazine prior to her venture into men's titles. Drawing on her experience in that genre, she launched Get Married Magazine in June 2009. She is now the National Web Editor for skirt.com and has written for Domino, Gourmet, Allure, Pink, Brides, DETAILS, Air Tran GO and msn.com. And while she may have lived in Manhattan for five years, her roots are planted firmly in the South. She was born on Peachtree Street and raised in East Cobb.
