Vacation Time Again!
By Shoegirl1970, Tuesday, August 2, 2011, 1 commentsIt has been five months since my vacation in March. Hard to believe it's been that long! Now I'm taking a week off next week to be with the kids before they go back to school and my last vacation of the year after that will be the week between Christmas and New Year's. Four more months, so I better make the best of this one.

Believe me, I need a vacation. I feel like I have been under so much stress lately and a vacation is just what I need. The first part is a stay-cation, but the last weekend I'm going to break my "no sun since I turned 25" rule and I'm going to lounge on the beach with SPF 8 and a big hat on. I think I can break my rule once if I'm careful and I protect my skin.
The best part of our mini-vacation is that we're staying in a hotel right ON the beach for three days. Like we can walk out of our door, over a little bridge that goes over the sand dunes, and on to the beach. We are going to get there early Friday to hang out on the beach until our room is ready. Once we have a room we'll take our stuff up, have lunch, and then back out to the beach. Saturday, more beach. Sunday, more beach before we leave if we want. Or just hang out in the lazy little beach town before heading home.
I can't wait to just lay out on the beach under an umbrella with a cold drink and my Kindle. Bliss... I don't think I have EVER done that. Oh! and the best part? Our room has a kitchenette, so we can cook breakfast and lunch there and just go out for dinner. Need to use the restroom? Just run up to our room to use it. Need to go in for snack or a drink? Just run in to our room and get something. Sigh..
I sure hope it's as wonderful as I'm imagining it will be.
The thing about being a working mother is that we need this. We need a vacation after working by day and then with the children in the evening. We need mental wellness days when we can just chill out and not think about deadlines, sales quotas, sales calls, doctors appointments, school uniform shopping and more. It's actually necessary or we can come apart at the seams. It's part of keeping ourselves healthy so then we can take care of our family. Just two more days of work this week and I get to start my vacation!

Enjoy your vacation! It does
Enjoy your vacation! It does sound heavenly. My husband and I took a vacation a month ago, but we worked on the house all week. Not much of a destressor. Unfortunatelly, it was necessary. You are so right about needing time to relax and recharge.
