The problem with Stacy and Sallie is that they usually run in very different circles. Stacy, the owner of Hampden Clothing, a King Street boutique consistently recognized by Vogue, and Sallie, the chief operating officer of a business and taxation law firm, are often mistaken for the other. “Last Christmas I was shopping in Grady Ervin and one of the guys asked why I wasn’t talking,” says Sallie. “They seriously thought Stacy was playing a joke on them. They made me get her from her store to show them that we were two different people!” Thankfully for us, the identical twins have dealt with the confusion their whole lives. “We never get upset when someone calls us the wrong name, we’ve always answered to both names,” swears Sallie. (Although, if you’re pressed to make a guess, Sallie’s always the one in glasses.) “Being a twin is unlike any relationship I’ve experienced; you have your biggest critic and your biggest fan wrapped up into one,” says Stacy.
