skirt! Flashback: Debbie Lane
By A Q&A with Chris Kuhn, Sunday, August 21, 2011One of our regular profiles involves checking back with women previously featured at TampaBay Skirt! to find out how things are going since we last featured them here. We call it skirt! Flashback.
This month, I followed up with Debbie Lane of Wisdom Hypnosis who served as our 24-7 woman for September 2009. Debbie admits the past couple of years have offered a rollercoaster of moments but as always, her upbeat attitude and willingness to embrace them all is evident. Learn what Debbie has been up to and some interesting events she'll be taking part in soon. Keep reading...
Chris Kuhn (CK): What kind of feedback did you get from your original appearance at TampaBaySkirt.com?
Debbie Lane (Debbie): Oh my goodness, it was wonderful! Skirt! readers who had not considered hypnosis in the past, were now curious about how it might help them. Some came to see me, others I referred to another hypnotherapist that might be a better fit for them. I love when people are exposed to what an awesome tool hypnosis is for them to use in their lives.
CK: In your original 24-7 Q&A, you mentioned that you wanted to learn Spanish, so have you? What are some things you’ve learned in the past two years since we checked in with you?
Debbie: Although I bought two sets of audios and a set of flash cards, I am sorry to say I have not learned much Spanish at all. I am not giving up though. It is a goal. Perhaps I need to spend time in South or Central America!
As a result of my son moving to “cold” Chicago, I renewed my interest in knitting. I also learned to crochet, and have created enough hats and scarves to keep the whole city warm.
Always I am learning more about the mind and the brain as well as new techniques I can use to enhance my clients' experiences. Shortly after our last interview, I was certified in Medical Hypnosis.
CK: What’s been new for you both personally and professionally since we introduced you to readers nearly two years ago?
Debbie: I have learned a lot about myself in the past two years, last year especially. 2010 included several deaths, both human and pets. My husband survived a quadruple bypass, and we became empty nesters. We also enjoyed travel and celebrations. I have always spoken of focusing on the positive and learning from our experiences. This was a chance to walk my talk. In retrospect, I believe I was able to see the many blessings and that only strengthened my resolve to always ask, “what if the best case scenario were to occur?” I am very sure to take time for pleasure. I have become an avid kayaker and as a result have had several wonderful dolphin encounters.
On a professional level, I have been fortunate enough to expand my business. I am now working at Dr. Cesar Lara’s Center For Weight Management with his patients on a weekly basis. That has been a wonderful opportunity to work with professionals that I admire. I have two hypnotherapists who now work for Wisdom Hypnosis as well, ensuring that someone is available Monday through Saturday.

CK: Tell us about a favorite moment or two from the past two years and what made it so special.
Debbie: Gee, it is difficult to pinpoint just one. On a personal level, probably the best would have been hearing from the doctor after my husband’s post-op visit that I was “stuck” with him for another 50 years.
On a professional level, I recently had a husband call me choked up with tears, to thank me for giving him his wife back. I tried to explain that it was she who had made the change. He was just glad she had “rediscovered her happy.”
CK: Any upcoming events, campaigns or promotions that we can let our readers know about?
Debbie: I am planning on teaching a webinar for my finding love class, called The Real Love Potion Number 9. The date is yet to be announced. My group at Wisdom Hypnosis is planning a class for creating a wealthy mindset, using the same methods that have allowed me to expand my business during this current economic climate, scheduled for September.
Immediately, call Dr Lara’s office to set up a discounted visit with me if you want help reaching your weight goals!.
CK: Use one word to describe Debbie then and another word to describe Debbie now, and tell us what happened to make it so.
Debbie: Debbie then - busy; Debbie now - balanced
As much as hypnosis is my passion, I have learned to focus on playtime too. My business is thriving and so am I!
CK: What would you still like to accomplish by the end of this year?
Debbie: I have had very close encounters with dolphins recently. As a child, I told my parents that I was born human by mistake, I was meant to be a dolphin. So, my husband has said when they all sit up in the water and wave me towards them, I can finally become Mrs. Limpit!
In lieu of that, I would like to add another hypnotherapist to my staff and bring in some powerful international trainers for my colleagues.
