Nikki Boatwright-Director of Sales at Hotel Indigo

interviewed by Logan Moses

Athens’ eleven-year resident and University of Georgia graduate, Nikki Boatwright became the Director of Sales at Hotel Indigo in April of this year.  This hotel is the newest and most unique addition to the city’s hotels and its stylish design and eco-friendly environment made it an immediate success with visitors.

Nikki gained her sales position through the social media website, LinkedIn and is a true testimonial for this new means of networking.  As Director of Sales, Nikki was able to participate in a great deal of the pre-planning for the opening of the hotel and handles all sales concerning events such as corporate affairs, weddings, and functions located in the Rialto Club located on the hotel’s lower level.  This job is a dream come true for Nikki because she enjoys always being busy with a different project or event. “I have never looked around and asked what could I do” Nikki said of her busy occupation at the boutique hotel.

In her free time, Nikki enjoys reading light-hearted books, running, and watching movies with her friends.  Her sister and close girlfriends are her inspiration.  When Nikki feels as if she’s been working too hard, she just thinks of her friend who has a twenty-four-seven job of raising two children.  This thought puts things in perspective when Nikki’s had a rough day.  I asked Nikki what she would want to be doing if she was not working with Hotel Indigo.  She gave me a very interesting answer by saying, “I would move to a small town in Italy and write a book if I could.”

Like Nikki, all of the employees at Hotel Indigo have passion and pride for the new hotel and know that they have helped create a place that breaks the conventional hotel mold, in a good way.  “I’ve never done anything more difficult or more rewarding,” she said referring to her job.  Nikki plans to stay in Athens and assist Hotel Indigo with its sales and success.
