Louise Doire | Popular Professor
By margaret, Thursday, September 1, 2011After receiving her Masters in Divinity from Harvard at the age of 39, Louise made her way south and now resides in the hearts of College of Charleston students. “A student who had taken five courses with me was once asked, ‘How can you take five classes with one professor?’
He responded, ‘Because you never really know what’s going to happen in Doire’s classroom.’”
Five Lessons I Never Learned:
1. Forget the rules about little black dresses, I’ve found that cowboy boots go with everything.
2. There’s never just one answer; there are as many ideas about God as there are people who believe in one.
3. Sharing (opinions) isn’t necessarily caring. Don’t tell people what they should do, or they’ll should on you.
4. Things are never black and white—truth is constructed.
5. I haven’t learned to settle for any old guy. Never live with a man who owns a recliner.
