Jordan Anderson | Aerial Athlete
By margaret, Wednesday, September 1, 2010A decade-long dedicated yoga practice keeps her grounded, but it’s also sent Jordan soaring. To expand her regular asana practice, she first began exploring AcroYoga, combining acrobatics with yoga poses, which in turn led her to discover Aerial Yoga, a graceful practice of traditional yoga poses with silks—imagine Warrior One à la Cirque de Soleil. “I love that it’s creative, lots of hanging, relaxing into the poses, and having fun,” says the only local instructor certified in Unnata® Aerial Yoga.
Now with improved upper body strength, Jordan keeps looking up—to circus arts. She and her partner Clayton study at an aerial arts school in Asheville to add swing to things.
How does it feel to fly? “It’s empowering, and really, really fun. It makes me a little giddy.”
