Holly Henson | A Pearl of a Girl
By Skirt.com, Wednesday, July 14, 2010“A feminist is like a pearl that forms something strong and protective around the irritant of injustice. The most beautiful and amazing layer forms when life tries to break you... and you don’t break. Of course no one notices, because the world is dazzled by cheap shiny glass.”
Holly’s seen her share of comedy and tragedy. As a standup comic, stage-four cancer survivor and artistic director of Kentucky’s oldest outdoor theater (Danville’s Pioneer Playhouse—a Henson family legacy), Holly laughs in the face of challenges. After kicking cancer to the curb, she’s changing the world next with her novel-in-progress, a tale revolving around mass-media mind-control techniques.
