Dr. Jackie Brewer | Warden of Wildlife
By margaret, Saturday, October 1, 2011, 2 commentsTechnically, Jackie has been in veterinary practice since 1999. But she’s been practicing since she was a kid. “I would get up at 5am to take care of all the family pets before going to school!” After moving to Charleston, Jackie first worked as a relief vet at local clinics, but she was recently given the opportunity to take over Stock-Wise Animal Hospital—now Maybank Animal Hospital. “It’s been a fantastic experience. We’ve completely rehabbed and updated the facility, from the hospital and treatment rooms to the boarding kennels and play areas.” Aside from dogs and cats (and occasional birds and guinea pigs), Jackie also opens her arms, clinic and even personal home to wildlife rescues—often baby squirrels or raccoons—in coordination with organizations like Keeper of the Wild until the animals can be released back into the wild. Visit keeperofthewild.org if you find an orphaned or injured wild animal, or to make a donation.

Maybank Animal Hospital ROCKS!
I recently took my 2 dogs and 2 cats to Maybank Animal Hospital, and I was so impressed with them. Dr. Brewer was awesome, especially with my nervous older dog, and spent a lot of time talking to me and going over all my questions. I was worried about trying a new clinic but I had such a great experience here. the girls at the front desk and helping the doctor were really nice and friendly and obviously knew what they were doing. My animals are like my kids and I definitely trust Dr. Brewer and her staff with them. Best vet in town!
Dr. Brewer is amazing!
I recently brought my cat into the Maybank Animal Hospital and was very impressed. Dr. Brewer identified what was wrong with my cat after just a few seconds when other Vets in the area have yet to be able to diagnose her after years of trying to find out what is wrong. Dr. Brewer prescribed medication and regiments and my cat's disease is now under control; making her and I both much happier individuals. I cannot thank you and your wonderful nurses for the quick diagnosis, and EXTREME caring hearts/compassion that I received while there. Don't think of going to another Vet--especially because Dr. Brewer works with Keeper of the Wild...that means a lot to me and the Charleston community!
