Dick & Nancy Valelly | Long-time Loves

Dick and Nancy met in 1951 while he was working abroad and she happened to be visiting a friend in Venezuela. It was love at first sight for Dick, who asked Nancy to marry him two weeks later. Nancy said no, and then changed her mind in the morning. Through multiple countries, they’ve had kids, grandkids and plenty of adventure.

Dick: “My father told me two things: First, always tip your hat to a lady and second, marry a girl that’s fun. I said that girl is gonna be mine.”

Nancy: “After I said no, I went home and thought about it that night. I called him up the next day and I said, ‘you know what I said last night—never mind.’ So we went to lunch.”
