Allison’s job may not be considered odd for long, now that social media is taking the business world by storm. A self-described “social media addict,” the stay-at-home mother of four has turned it into a career, launching her company, Island Networking, to help businesses maintain a presence on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter (follow her: @islandnetworkin). “I’ve always wanted to find my niche,” she says. “I love it so much and I have so much passion for it. And I believe in it. I truly believe that it works.” Allison’s work to help small businesses in Savannah connect to their customers online has had a big impact for them—and she’s having a blast. “Savannah runs on small business,” she says. “If you really want to get out there and get their attention, you need to be where everyone is. And where is everyone? Online.”
