Engineer VS Manager
By shelomita, Sunday, January 2, 2011My husband is an engineer. His thoughts are logical and straight most of the times. He is full of considerations when he is about to decide on something like which bank is better for our savings, which type of car that is needed, which school is better for the kids, and so on. He is very much into gadgets and spends hours just to look what is new in Apple world. And the most important of all, he is very proud of being an engineer.
On the contrary, I am a management-based person. My education did not stuff my head with numbers, maths formula, science or physics. I am more of a people-person, very cheerful, full of fantasy and super dreamy personality. Comparing our traits is like comparing a hard wooden log to a rubber ball. I think you can figure who the wooden log is.
I am not a stranger to technology, but sometimes I just to lazy to work on couple of things and let my husband to do it like installing some new programme to my laptop, fixing some crashed file, fixing the DVD, or any other "technical' matters afterwhich my husband will renounce proudly his engineer degree to be the reason why he can do the things that (he thinks) I can not do it.
One day when we were surfing the internet together and found out some engineer's income topped some managerial levels', he said to me "you see honey, this is engineers". Then, later in that day when he fixed a thing on my computer, he said "this is what they teach in engineering school so we can do this kind of stuff...I don't know what things you were taught in your management school". So I smiled at him and said, "of course honey, you are an engineer..you must know how to do that..for us, we were only taught how to find an engineer husband to do all the job for us!". Huh!..Beat that babe!
