If it's not one thing, it's your mother.
By shea.p, Wednesday, June 23, 2010, 2 commentsI love my mom. She knows that. However she feeds me such good material it's virtually impossible NOT to blog about. So, I have to tell this story because it just about killed me.
My mom was gone for about 2 weeks and my dad was on a major deadline when we all decided to hang out on a Friday night. We were watching TV, my dad was dozing off and my mom was obsessing over how her garden is in complete shambles since being gone. She was recounting how the bunnies ate the tops of her flowers and that the birds were out of feed. My dad just kept saying, "yeah, yeah...I saw that." His 2 weeks were consumed by the 5,000 sq. ft. remodel job due for completion in 2 days. Then she said, "Jim, why didn't you pick up that stuff to keep the bunnies away? All you had to do was swing by their and they had it ready!" Then he said, "I didn't think of it. I'll stop next week." She couldn't stop, "Jim, they ate all of my flowers! It wouldn't have taken you that long. There goes $50 bucks right out the window..."
I leaned over and said, "I have a solution, get some real problems." My dad started laughing. It's a battle picking life isn't it? Where our obsessions rest may say something. My moms garden has replaced the empty nest. I get it. I can only give her crap because she is my mom - and giving each other crap is a love language of sorts. It's also a wonderful coping mechanism.

Mothers are the same
Mothers are the same everywhere. And now I am one...so I'm sure I'll be bothering my kids at some point.
I love this! I also love the
I love this! I also love the title I might have to steal it as a daily saying about my mom's nagging or mom in laws inability to understand that husband and I need to be allowed to solve our own problems and she doesn't need our help to solve all of her's (plus-it's very snl gilda radner). Thanks for making me laugh too.-katy
