Happy S.A.D.

I Just overheard my roommate say to her husband, "I just don't get the whole rose thing, it's weird" he responded, "Thanks to Seals' 1993 hit 'Kissed by a rose on the grave' he ruined roses for everyone, including you."  I then immediately posted this update on my facebook status.  Some quotes are too good to be left in the open air and then forgotten.  Some quotes are so good, I have to keep them to myself.

Statistics are an entirely different ballgame.  After all, 98% of all statistics are made up on the spot.  Like this one, "Women with over 2 years of higher education and over the age of 30 have a 2-10% chance of getting married." This quote didn't come as a comfort on the eve of Valentines Day.  Or as I would like to call it, "National Singles Awareness Day."

Smirky (another roommate) took me out last night for a little Valentines date.  We hit up Starbucks & Borders. At some point between quoting Alanis Morrisset's "Isn't it ironic" and getting cabbage from the grocery store I shared the bleak statistic about being over 30. Smirky reminded me that he likes Cougars.  Besides the possibility of being viewed as a Cougar, I became aware of the fact that I don't have a burning desire to be married.  I walk past Bride Magazines only curious to see if my brother's photography has been featured (www.tecpetajaphoto.com).  Beyond Bride is PEOPLE magazine where I take quick trips into the shallow end of society.

I'm going to a John & Stacy Eldridge conference tonight with my 4 single roommates and the married couple as well.  The irony is hilarious and I'm comfortable with celebrating SAD day in a church full of marrieds.  My insight for the day is this...Marrieds, don't pity single people, some have actually chosen it.  Singles, don't be SAD today! Reach out and share the love with those around you.

Cougars, give me your money.
