Ack! I Lied!
By sarahthequeen05, Wednesday, May 13, 2009, 7 commentsSo, you know how on May 1 that I gave a quick life update and said that I'd be writing a regular blog that weekend and then it didn't happen, and then I haven't written anything since? Sorry. It was completely unintentional and I haven't even been able to catch up on READING blogs, let alone writing one. In fact, I'm so far behind on reading that I'm not sure if I'll ever catch up.
Life is just madcrazybusy. Still loving the job and so appreciative of the fact that I have one, but I really miss getting to sleep in every morning and living on my own schedule. I'm not saying that having to have chemotherapy and feeling like crap is a worthy trade-off for getting extra sleep. Not at all. Just that I wish I'd been able to appreciate all the time that I had then.
Here's a typical day:
0450- First alarm goes off. Hubby turns it off and I jump, because it scares the crap out of me, every single morning.
0500- Second alarm goes off. Still in bed. I am fully awake now, but Hubby is not. He's a bit like an old engine where the starter doesn't work so well. It takes a LOT of noise to get him going in the morning.
0510- Third alarm goes off, along with alarm on his cell phone and alarm on my cell phone. My cell phone does not play around. It has lights that flash off and on in time with the seriously annoying song that I've picked out as an alarm and also vibrates, which makes a loud buzzing sound on the nightstand. Also scary.
0515-Finally get out of bed. Immediately sneeze between 4-6 times. Rummage for kleenex box in the dark because I can't be arsed to turn the light on. Make the bed, also in the dark. (Last night, Hubby turned down the bed to find that I had made the shirt-that-I-decided-not-to-wear up in the bed, under the comforter and on top of the blanket.
0525- Hubby leaves for work. At this point, I'm either dressed in gym clothes and am eating breakfast, or am straightening up little things around the house and/or farting around on the internet and/or doing yoga or pilates at home. (Bonus points if you can guess which one I did today.)
0615-If at home, I'll be dressed by now and eating breakfast. If at gym, I'll be on the arc trainer, wishing my hair was long enough to get it off my forehead because it is EFFING HOT having sweaty hair on your forehead.
0630-If at gym, I’ll be done with working out, and heading to shower, thankful that I don't have long hair because then I’d have to style it or at least dry it. If at home, I’m putting in my contacts and doing the whole makeup thing that keeps me from looking like a man with boobs.
0645-If at gym, getting dressed and brushing my teeth again, because working out apparently makes me metabolize things in such a way that I get a funky taste in my mouth and I have to brush my teeth to get rid of it. If at home, also brushing my teeth and taking allergy meds to keep me from snotting all over people at work.
0700-If at gym, dressed, makeup on, and starving, so I’ll rummage through the snacks in my bag. If at home, I’m feeding the fish and making sure that I actually packed my lunch.
0715-Leave for work. Try not to get too stressed at traffic because it will make the teeny wrinkles that I just noticed that I have between my eyes worse.
0745-0800-Get to work, depending on traffic. If on the phone with my mom, finish up convo and put phone on silent.
0800-0830- Pre-work stuff, like making hot tea and putting lunch in the fridge, and changing my Dilbert and Stephen Colbert page-a-day calendars to the new day, and running down all the walking sushi because I’m sure the cleaning people have races with them at night, because they are nearly always almost fully-wound each morning, and if I don’t run them down, I’ll accidentally touch one with my elbow or something, and it will start parading down my desk and startle me.
0830-1300- Work, work, work. And drink tea. And snack.
1300-1400- Lunch, usually. Yesterday, I didn’t get to lunch until nearly 1330. Eat, do crossword puzzle or read or write, and walk around for a bit.
1400-1730 Work, work, work. Never get to leave right at 1730, usually more like 1745.
1820-Home by now. Get out of my school clothes and into comfy stuff and trade the contacts for glasses and take the makeup off and forage for sustenance in the kitchen. Say hello to Hubby. Ask Hubby what he wants for supper. Hubby says “food”. When prompted to be more specific, he says “edible food”. We have this same convo EVERY SINGLE NIGHT.
1900-Sit down to eat whatever was easiest and fastest to cook. Hubby appreciative, which is nice.
1920- Finished eating. Watch part of a movie or one of The Simpsons DVDs, check email, weather, etc.
2030-Head to closet to lay out clothes for the next day and/or gym clothes.
2045- Brush teeth, floss, file fingernails,tweeze eyebrows, etc- random personal hygiene stuff, then shower.
2100-2120- Finally head to bed.
2120-2230 or 2300- Lay awake in bed thinking of all the random crap that I didn’t get to do today. Finally go to sleep- get less than 7 hours before I have to do it all over again.
So, that’s my typical day. And this week just feels worse because my allergies are bad and it’s that one week off my pills and I’m trying to do this 50/50 raw foods challenge from crazysexylife.com, and it’s report week at work, so I’m starting a bit earlier and finishing a bit later and taking slightly shorter lunches to get everything done. But I’m really happy- just whiny. (Might have something to do with it being that week off the pills. Hmm.)
Hope everything is peachy in Skirt!land today! I miss being here all the time, but I’m glad that I can still visit occasionally.
