A New Year's Eve Eve of Frustrations and Other Liveliness
By SaraDutilly, Friday, December 30, 2011I had a doctor's appointment today because I felt very strange last week. Stomach hurt. Had no appetite. Among the usual cold symptoms and some other odd things. The doctor didn't do anything but look at me like I was crazy. "It was probably nothing." And she charged me for that.
I got home and checked the mail. A credit card bill. The minimum payment has somehow trippled.
Happy Holidays, credit card!
I guess that's how it goes.
But I want to celebrate. Christmas may be over, but the New Year will last.
So I sit on the couch with a plate of lunch: leftover chicken pot pie, butternut squash, kale with garlic and onions.
Netflix. What do you have to offer?
The Wonder Years.
What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song. I will try not to sing out of key.
I'll get by with a little help from my friends.
Come on, Wonder Years, tug at my heartstrings on this not-yet-so-merry eve of New Year's Eve.
