How Beautiful

There are five days until Christmas and I am sitting in a lovely and ancient soft leather chair passed down to me from my grandma. My feet are propped on the matching ottoman and I am writing to tell you a sort of story...

I recently discovered The Pioneer Woman (I know, I'm behind the times) and was just looking at her blog. While I'm not privy to butter-filled recipes, I do enjoy an honest writer with a good wit. Speaking of her recipes, though, I am pretty stoked to have stumbled on her recipe for iced coffee. Cold-soaking coffee grounds is fascinating to me.

While this is not my style, I did become jealous of the winners and the unnecessarily pretty mixers that will soon grace their kitchen counters.

The mixer that sits on my counter was a gift from some very good friends. My husband and I registered for one for our baby shower (every mom needs a KitchenAid Mixer, right?)

It is white, which means it is beautiful, too, in a graceful and blatant kind of way.

I wonder, could I paint my mixer?

Hmm... that sounds like one of those projects that should be possible, but really would probably end in disaster.

Tomorrow, maybe I'll tell you about the time I tried to re-make my wedding dress into a dress I could wear to my husband's uber-formal work Christmas party.
