There's More to it Than the Idea

I had this idea while I was doing the Big House Clean -- the one that starts out so ambitiously, with a bucket full of tools and solvents you're going to carry around the house, and an audio book cued up to keep you focus.  Well, really, the original idea was something like "why do I let it go on this long..."  and I realized that there are 7 rooms in the house (if you count them in such a way that they come out to be 7.  And if you are willing to pretend that stair olandings and foyers don't count).  And there are 7 days in a week.  I'd like you to think I take a day of rest, but I suppose I'd like you to think a lot of things....

So the idea was that if I cleaned one room a day, and did it as thoroughly as I (have to) do on a Big Clean, it would really only take 20 minutes tops, even with vaccuming (my rooms are not very big, is what I am saying) and the house would be clean every week.

Right?

Right?

I made a little list, and pretended that it matetred what day I assigned to what room.  There may been some logic around recycling day and riday nights, but yadda yadda bladda... Like most of my scathingly brilliant ideas, it suffers in the execution.  In the first week, I amde it to the 2nd day.  That was last week, by the way, and I should let you know that I had this idea 4 years ago.  I bring it up a lot when I am driving my home, and trying to psyche myself into the idea that I am about to come home and clean something "after the day I have had."

And, Honey, it is always a day.

The vaccum cleaner is staring me in the face right now, and it can get off its high horse, because the only reason I haven't replaced it with a Roomba is that I found out they are really kind of loud.  And I believe the servants should be inconspicuous.

Where would you rather have me, anyway - chatting up The Cloud, or getting dishpan hands?
