Voletta Wallace Meets Biggie

On January 16th the long awaited, true story of Biggie Smalls hits the big screen.  In the beginning Ms. Wallace didn’t want to be a part of the project but then she thought, well, there would be no Christopher Wallace without Voletta so she joined the effort.  And from that thought she wanted no one else but the talented Angela Bassett to play her.  During the making of the film Ms. Wallace learned some things about her son that she had only heard about, including how he treated Lil’ Kim.  “I would love to speak to Lil’ Kim, because I need to ask more about this love relationship because I really didn’t like the way he treated her and I’m praying that that’s not it. Only she can answer those questions. She’s a sweet girl and I didn’t think she deserved to be treated the way he treated her, if that’s the case” says Ms. Wallace.  When Jamal Woodard walked in the room Ms. Wallace knew he was the one to play her son.  The director told her that he had never acted before which meant a lot of work ahead but she didn’t care. “There were days I had goose bumps just watching him. I was always close to my son and now I’m close with Jamal for the respect that he had for my son” she tells Essence Magazine.  She says she gained strength, angered by certain things, disappointed, and shocked by this film but still has a great deal of respect for her son and the artist he was.  The Notorious Soundtrack, which will be released January 13th, it is a must have for all of you Hip Hop lovers.  It includes classics like “Juicy” and “Hypnotize”, and the emotional new track from Jadakiss titled “Letter to B.I.G.”.  Stay tuned to see my review of the film.
