Skirt! Team Challenge: Extreme Self-Care " My conclusions"

This Quote was on a perpetual calander I have sitting by my coffee maker...

If one stopped thinking about what others thought, said and did, hardly anything would ever bother them again.

My boyfriend stated:. I don’t know how anyone actually achieves this. A person would have to be totally disconnected from family, work, and community.

I responded: The key part is "if one stopped thinking"  Perhaps it is the recognition of  "when" to stop thinking about what others thought, said and did, so it would not bother you anymore.

Maybe that is why others don't do anything...they have stopped thinking....................................they are totally disconnected from family.

I have discovered this month, while reflecting on this challenge, that in order to put my "own true needs first" I must stop doing all the other crap I do every day.  Like dishes, laundry, looking through the mail and the normal picking up.  Then the problem is,  that no one else does that crap for me.  So, If I take time out for myself, I have fallen behind.

So the moral is, be careful what you carve yourself into of your own free will.  It becomes YOUR JOB and no one else is gonna do it because it will infringe on their free time to do what they damn well please.  And it will surely be something fun that they would have to give up to do the grunt work that you are taking a break from.  That is why we should not do so much for so many others.  We make their life a dream come true.  They are just row, row, rowing merrily down the stream, while we are standing knee deep in water and flailing for a life preserver!!!

I wonder what my kitchen sink would look like if I stopped doing the dishes for one week?

Maybe a family should read this book together and then we might be able to help them understand that we need more help?  Like, I am no longer going to do the dishes anymore and that will give me 30-45 minutes per day to do whatever I want to.  Gosh I am getting too hot under the collar on this posting....

Skirt! Team Challenge: Extreme Self-Care " My conclusions"

Hi Carole- That sure is a

Hi Carole- That sure is a different take on that quote- I think you have come to a an accurate conclusion. So many people are disconnected  from others and they probably don't realize how their actions or INACTIONS are affecting others.

But be careful of your protest- less no one "notice".  On a similar note, Charming was peeved that so many drink cans were being left on the counter in the kitchen. As a form of protest, he stated building a tower of them on the island in the kitchen. He said if real estate agents came to "show" our house, he wasn't throwing them away. I assured him I was having no part of his foolishness and that if an agent came to see a tower built of drink cans in my kitchen, even if it was 4 feet high- so be it! LOL! He had maybe 6 cans and my son- who is the biggest culprit for leaving cans out in the first place- remarked- "Cool! Somebody is building a tower!" And he started building on it' adding to it. I finally told Charming he better explain to son what was going on and that he was being ironic- not a builder.

PS Son FINALLY threw drink cans away and no more towers have been built! This needs to be a blog! LOL

Tower of Terror...

You are so funny, I am picturing the tower of cans on the kitchen counter.  Good for your son to be the one to dispose of them properly!

Thanks for the caution, in posting.  I got on some sort of a roll and could not stop myself...

You mention: they probably don't realize how their actions or INACTIONS are affecting others.

Funny, I was pondering what is less desirable "actions" or "inactions".  My first thought about actions was that actions seemed positive, because you are doing something, then thought further and realized that actions can also be negative.  Inactions, for sure seems negative.  Doing No-thing (nothing), though an inaction is actually an action in itself.  Inaction is confusing and actually can be a techique as you knever know for sure if it was purposeful.  People can always claim "I didn't know" or "I forgot".

I better stop or you will be cautioning me further...lol
