Naked Physics

It is with strains of “Welcome Back, Kotter” zipping through my brain that I now re-enter the creative expression/writing, nothing to do with high school arena. (I’m still attempting to figure out if I’m Kotter, or the students who missed him over the summer break. In that scenario, I‘m me, and my brain is Kotter.)

I have been wearing my “new teacher” hat for approximately a month now, and after my experience at the “miracle school” turned into “you’ve ruined my life AND my credit school”, I feel as if I have been teaching Physics naked for five years straight, without a hint of Spring Break to be found. The aforementioned school has now closed, leaving in its wake some amazing educators, and, more importantly, a group of incredibly inspirational young men. Yes, I still miss my boys, miss my co-workers, miss “that” kind of teaching, but it is getting better. Lots of life lessons in that rodeo. LOTS.

I am settling in at the new school, feeling incredibly blessed to have an opportunity to once again stand in front of a group of kids who may, on any given day, actually be listening to the words coming out of my mouth. More so, I am just gosh darn lucky to have a job. ..that pays. Then there’s the graduate school thing, but if I think about that for too long, I shall start to bleed from my eyeballs. Let’s save that for later…

Here’s to reconnecting this month. Cheers!

Getting your sea legs takes

Getting your sea legs takes a bit, but after you always wonder what the challenge was (I like to think that because it gives me the Dutch courage I need for my next new adventure).
