Survivor: Thanksgiving Edition

Holidays with the family can be awkward, you know it, I know it, and your family knows it.  So why not turn what could be the worst weekend of your life and turn them into a game of survivor.  It's a great way to turn negative feelings and conversations into a positive.  Plus you might be surprised how much fun you have.

Curmudgeon Challenge - Every family has the old ornery person that everyone tries to avoid like plague.  So, the first person who make the family grump laugh doesn't have to pick him or her up from the airport next year.  You never know they might add you to their will.

Pack Rat Challenge - We all know that the family has a few clothes horses.  So, the person who can pack the lightest, doesn't have to sleep on the sofa. Thats right, pass on brining that extra sweater and you could be in the guest room instead of camping out in the living room.

Yes Mom Challenge - Mom's always have a way of knowing when you've just gotten comfy on the couch or when you movie your watching is finally getting good.  That's when they strike, and by strike I mean ask you to help them with something.  Instead of getting interrupted the who holiday weekend.  Have your Mom give everyone one task.  The first person to finish their task, gets to be task free all weekend long.  Plus your mom gets a few of those tasks off her chest right away.

Cocktail Challenge - Dad has a signature drink, and chance are his going to be sipping a few during this prolonged family get together.  So, who ever can make Dads signature cocktail the best get to spend the post Thanksgiving dinner doning what dad does best…. Napping!

Raking Challenge - Chances are your parents yard is filled with leaves.  Grab a timer and a pair of gloves because this challenge is taking place outside.  Who ever can gather the biggest pile of leaves in five minutes is immune from all yard work for the reminder of the holiday season.  He or she with the smallest pile gets to spend the afternoon racking leaves.

Tech NO Challenge -  Well all love to text and tweet but for this challenge you are going to have to resist the urge.  Grab everyones laptops, smartphones, kindles, iPads, or any other gadget.  The first person to break down and use their modern tech has to provide tech support for Mom and Dad for one year.

Anniversary/Birthday Challenge - Who ever can remember Mom & Dad's anniversary or Grandmas Birthday year included doesn't have to plan the party or chip in for the gift.  Every family is different so if your parents aren't married use Grandparents.

Bake & Fake Challenge -  Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays, Vacations, there are plenty of reasons for your family to get together.  And there are plenty of ways that those get togethers can ruin your perfectly good plans.  So, everyone does their best to recreate Mom's famous pie (feel free to change the food), and the winner earns one free Get Out Of A Family Event Card.

Creepy Cousin Challenge - We all have the creepy cousin and just like the family curmudgeon no one wants to spend too much time with this person.  So, who ever can do their best Creepy Cousin wins immunity from the Creepy Cousin.  That means anytime you get corned by Creepy Cousin another family member aka the loser of this challenge has to run interference.

Fine Wine Challenge - Mom loves her wine, it's a quality that you inherited from her.  Who ever can bring mom the best bottle of wine, gets sleep in and sip on the good stuff during dinner.

Remote Control Challenge - Have your mom or a family member who isn't into television hide the remote control before everyone arrives.  Who ever finds the remote gains control over the TV all weekend long.  They are also the deciding vote in any entertainment disputes.

Black Friday Challenge -  There is always a few things that Mom & Dad need from the grocery store.  Mom stands in front of the check out line.  She gives everyone a few items off of her list.  The first person back to mom doesn't have to go Black Friday shopping.  The loser of the challenge has to wrap all of the presents.

Red Rover Challenge - Aww the family dog, chances are you either love it or hate it.  For this challenge the whole family needs to line up.  Who ever can get the family dog to come to them, doesn't have to have to walk him or her.  Now for some of you walking the dog is the only break you will get from the family so the winner might opt for walking duites.
