About Me

Kids: No kids

Political Leaning: Liberal

Name: Poppy Darlington

Occupation: Gadabout

Education: Masters in Art History

Relationship Status: Single

More about Me: ...a fearless Aquarius born in the year of the dog. Poppy has amazing parents that fed her love, confidence, creativity, integrity, humor, kindness-- all before breakfast. She started crushing on Harry Connick Jr. at the age of 12. She happens to be the happiest with it's raining. Loves the cold and the smell of new books. Snever keeps the dust jacket and has been known to judge a book by it's cover. Is all to fond of polka dots, and stay-cations in Paris often. Chooses stilettos often over safety, but has a endearing soft spot for grosgrain ballet flats. Iggy Stardust is her adorable Frenchie who is quite precocious. Poppy is a whimsical tour-de-force that can be a bit cerebral for her own good. Has a romantic flair with an often overwhelming style of love. Mommy Dearest, Clue, and Sunset Boulevard are her favorite movies. She always checks the twirl factor of a garment before buying, and would choose Wellies over Uggs any day of the week. Nouvelle Vague font makes her giddy as a school girl. Holds a firm belief that scotch should always be neat and preferably a double. 3 a.m. is her magic hour when most of fanciful follies come to light. She is an expert at making fondant, tacos and cocktails. Not a huge fan of children; feels they have freakishly sharp nails, smell like Cheerio's, and are always sticky. She is currently developing a bit of a cheeky inner bad girl that's known to be mischievous and full of marvelous miss guided advice. A true delight on the dance floor with a fox trot that will knock your socks off. Iris Apfel is her fashion icon. She loves getting lost in the Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden with a Bakers Wife Pastry Shop Lemon Bar. She's been know to the ivories with a bold brilliance. Currently nurshing a massive girly crush on Nigella Lawson and Christina Hendricks. Fell in love with architecture at the ripe old age of 5 when she bought her first Architectural Digest. Takes tea and nibble every afternoon at 3. Her nails are always black; a tradition that started with Wet 'N' Wild 424A, then she moved to Hard Candy and finally landed on Chanel Black Satin. While Chanel Black Satin maybe a "it" shade for some, for her it's home. Believes that real men wear argyle and know the powers of a good windsor knot. She is much more productive when rocking a cocktail ring or tiara (cheap & plastic). Her Saturdays are spent conducting story time at the library. The Aquarium from Camille Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals ins the soundtrack to all her dreams. Ever since watching Mary Poppins she has had an irrational fear of banks. She has been known to leave dishes in the sink so long, that she just throws them away. Currently she is on the hunt for a guy who find sleeping with moisturizing gloves, Biore strips, zit cream and a goofy head band to keep hairplace sexy. All in all she is a whimsical, flamboyant, sophisticated, slightly irreverent dashing Miss.

Favorite Music: Harry Connick Jr., Nina Simone, Blossom Dearie, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Adele, Etta James, Lynard Skynard, Joss Stone, Lauryn Hill, Chicago, Boston, Brett Dennen, Huey Lewis & The News, James Taylor, Queen, Three Dog Night, Edgar Winter Group, Carole King, Sam Cooke, Ottis Redding, Al Green, Patty Griffin, Shemekia Copeland, Nikka Costa, Joe Cocker, The Black Keys, The Heavy, Ray LaMontagne, Imelda May, Keely Smith, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, June Christy, Perry Como, Pink Martini, Koop, Lena Horne, Nancy Wilson, Dean Martin, Eydie Gorme, Brenda Lee

I can't live without: Chanel Black Satin Nail Polish. My MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone & iMac. Love. Family & Friends. Cupcakes & Cocktails. Iggy Stardust. Laughter. My Day Planners, To Do List, and Sticky Notes. Impromptu dance parties. Napping. Brunch.

I am most proud of: My education and ability to make a mean cocktail!

I am most guilty of: Cussing like a sailor.

Words I live by: Less is not more it's less. Have a little faith, and if that doesn't work, have a lot of mimosas. If a little is great, and a lot is better, than way too much is just about right! - Mae West

The world would be a better place, if only: If my student loans didn't exist and fat free foods tasted better.
