The goal?
Finish the New York Marathon better than my Philadelphia ('07) and Mystic, CT ('05) times...
I met a wall the first two times and didn't do so hot
This year, however, I'm going to try something new.
For one, I'm training with my son.. literally. He's just turned one and makes for a great running partner. I push him along and he loves dozing off while i zip by walkers and other runners... I do get passed from time to time, though and he wakes up and eggs me on. This is even better when I'm runnning after a 24 hour shift in the hospital.
When my wife can join us, she helps by towing our son on her bike and serving as a pace-bike and portable-watering station! Really, what more could a guy ask for, you say?
But let's raise the stakes a bit more.. Why not run for a cause?
I'll be raising money for an organization that collects unused medical and surgical equipment from hospitals in the US and delivers them to hospitals in third world countries! It's called Remedy and you can find it at www.remedyinc.org
To make it even more fun, I'm going to get in full spirit and do this race in style! That's right.. I'm getting a running skirt from Atalanta sportswear, www.skirtgoddess.com and stay commited for this race and the cause!
So stay tuned for more running tales, skirt reviews and marathon fun!
