The Real Proposal
By Poses, Tuesday, May 4, 2010It has been many a moon since I've blogged! It has nothing to do with SKIRT! Geeze, I love you guys - I wouldn't dream of leaving!
The decline in blogging started when Alan asked me to go to Denver, CO with him to visit his grandparents. I haven't taken any kind of vacation in years...so, I jumped on the opportunity (especially since he was paying for everything!) Student loans + car payment = broke young lady.
I have never been on a plane...I have also never left the east coast. These are both true stories. Me being me, I had to have my usual triple shot non-fat latte before boarding and literally chewed a hole in the lid of my coffee cup after being in the air for about 45 minutes. Caffeine doesn't help your nerves, apparently.
Denver is beautiful. This is an understatement. On the way in to his grandparents house, we stopped into Target to pick up some things we didn't pack...you walk outside and all you see is mountains. Very humbling, mind you - and the weather? No humidity. On Easter morning, it was 32 degrees and it felt like our 65 (but still with no humidity.)
On that Thursday of our week long stay, Alan rented a car and planned a very big day for the both of us. He took me to Caribou Coffee, then we ate a real country breakfast, well, I got waffles (for me, eating white flour is about as country eating as I can get..) and we went 10,000 ft to climb Pike's Peak. It snowed most of the day and was beautiful.
After Pike's Peak, we went to a place called "Garden of the gods. Since it was the Thursday before Easter, we took some wine and bread and had communion. After communion, he got on one knee...and he PROPOSED! In French...and it was the most romantic proposal I could have ever imagined for myself. Just me, him, nature, wine, and French. I said yes, of course :) So, I'm engaged!
We've been looking at houses for over a year and decided to go ahead and look more intensely...this time, successfully! and we just bought a house in W Columbia.
My sister is going to birth my nephew at ANY moment and I am literally waiting on the edge of my seat for the phone to ring.
Life is exciting, new, and overwhelming at the moment. It's going by so fast that I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around it. No worries though - I'm holding on tight.
