Growing Up Kinda Stinks

and not because you have to go to work, or, pay bills. I'm ok with that part.

What stinks is not having girlfriends.

For 3 years, I lived with 3 women (yes, 4 women total living under a single roof) and we truly created this - bond.  Yes, we had boyfriends and other friends and school and work but, we always managed to make time for each other.

Our favorite thing to do? Pop in Sex and the City first thing Saturday morning and drink Margarita's until we no longer cared about the plot.  We would talk about failed relationships, family issues, gaining weight, losing weight, talk about how we didn't care about losing weight (that was after the 3rd cocktail) and what we wanted to do with our lives.

There came a point when I was serious in my career path and I needed to get away from the noise of the city and move to the out-skirts with my boyfriend.  I was student teaching and working at night to trying to support myself and the last thing I needed was noise when I needed so desperately to sleep off the stress of the day.

I did the right thing for myself, no doubt, but from that point on, my relationship with my girlfriends was never the same. We had different values, headed in different directions, and our schedules were equally insane.  Little did I know how much I would truly miss having girlfriends until I really didn't have any.

I've tried making new friends but I still run into that same situation of scheduling conflicts or we're just not into the same things.  For example, why do women my age feel the need to ALWAYS to go a bar on a Friday night?  and I'm talking about the rawnchy college bars that all of the underage freshman go to so that vodka can be pumped into their bloodstream by a frat boy whose mom and dad are paying for the bar tab.  What happened to sitting on the couch, having a glass of wine, and just hanging out?  Does that make me lame? Who knows.

I have no point to this blog, really - other than to let out some feelings. Finding a good girlfriend/group of girlfriends these days is harder than finding a boyfriend (I've got one of those and he is quite superb, I must say :) )

You are just the icing on my

You are just the icing on my cupcake! Thank you for the picture compliment.  I just love my pug baby! I dressed him up as a lobster for Halloween last year.  I wish I could say he hated it...but, he loved it so much that he actually got angry when I took the custome off!  He loves to dress up. He's my little drag queen :)
