Red Dirt Rising
By pmrogosich, Sunday, September 27, 2009, 3 commentsNascar has never appealed to me. It’s all left turns. However, tonight I viewed the premier of a new independent film shot right here in my home state of North Carolina, Red Dirt Rising. Set in the 30’s, it starts with some good ol' boys running moonshine for a few quick bucks. Next thing you know, a red dirt track births a phenomenon that grows into the multi-billion industry we know today. Set in beautiful, colorful country roads and with true family stories that weave throughout three decades, what amazed me the most was seeing the people who were portrayed on the screen stand up in the theatre and speak from the heart about their families’ true stories! It’s hard to imagine how just a handful of people can make such an impact on our culture, but they certainly did.

Disclaimer: What’s the catch, you ask? My dear boyfriend Stephen Cook worked very hard as camera assistant, alongside the rest of the cast and crew on this phenomenal movie.
