Creative Sundays, No.2
By PaperTrails, Sunday, June 19, 2011, 3 commentsHey all! Hope everyone had a creative week. If you haven't already, check out dburke's clever scenario in response to last week's prompt: You're lost in a foreign country. How did you get there? Why are you there? What happens next? Mine is also posted as a comment beneath my original blog.
This week, here's your challenge:
Create a character. Give her or him a name, a history, a sense of place, vulnerability, strength, physical characteristics, friends, enemies. Then introduce us to him or her. The person can share elements of people you know, but must be, as a whole, someone who doesn't actually exist.
Take us through this person's typical day and make this person as real as possible. Keep in mind that you do not have to like your character.
Who knows? Maybe this person is worthy of a story or a book.
Let's see what we can do!

Think about your favorite villains and your favorite heroes in books and movies. Why do you love them? (ps. has anyone else seen the movie Stranger Than Fiction)? Definitely recommend renting it before this assignment.
Thanks all! If you prefer posting a short story or chapter of your novel each week for all of us to critique, please know that you can do that in lieu of the prompts.
