How long will we talk about our economy?

It’s going to be awhile, isn’t it? I subscribe to random e-mail blasts, newsletters/updates, blogs, etc. and almost every single one talks about our failing economy, recession-proofing, and so on and so on.

Awhile back I wrote about creating one’s own economy, and not ignoring what’s happening around us but not becoming a victim to it all either. Well, it’s certainly all around us, and yes, my business has felt it. While I don’t plan on closing up shop, it does occasionally seem like an, um, ahem...”non-profit” – as there have been some “not as profitable as before” times in the biz. I refuse to give in though because you all know how much I like to shop! We MUST press on! : )

Sooooo....I’ve become friendly with places like Retail Me Not , Hot Coupon World, and Beat My Price – sites that help me save money (or get freebies) on everything from groceries to bras at Victoria’s Secret to Pizza Hut deals.

Please share some ways that you’re saving and staying afloat!

How long will we talk about our economy?

You know what you are

You know what you are soooooo right, I'm with you on; we're aware its going on, its effecting everyone globally and we aren't trying to bury our heads in the sand that its not happening - BUT if we darn well keep going on about its going to make us all depressed! And word of mouth is a strong commodity. So, like you've put, lets put a different angle on it and be positive. Em, London

I couldn't agree more

We can choose to allow the negativity to infiltrate us or we can choose to "brutally confront the facts" while never surrendering the vision of prosperity. Thanks for making a statement. Be light!

I agree

It's definately a good time to be looking for ways to save/keep money. Some people forget the benefits of a FREE public library. Rather than spending money on books or DVDs, I borrow from the library. I love the FREEdom.

How long will we talk about our economy?

As long as people are losing

As long as people are losing their jobs around us on a daily basis and things keep getting worse, then we are going to continue to talk about it. And the end is no where in sight. Of course we cannot allow it to depress us or affect how we are caring for ourselves and our loved ones, but I think we do need to listen long enough to not ignore the reasons that we are here so that we can learn from it & not be in the same boat again. Of course it's a joint effort. I & my SO are lucky enough to still have our jobs & so we are spending basically the same b/c I think we were probably pretty frugal regardless. I use Craigslist & buy alot of "new" secondhand stuff - as well as sell it. www.parentingdiva.com

I love

I LOVE retail me not! My biggest change in recession-proofing my family is staying out of Target, Walmart, and any other evil tempting superstore! Instead, I am all about Diapers.com, Drugstore.com, Amazon, and so on. Many times items are cheaper, but most often it is just easier to stay within my means because I'm not browsing all of the clearance racks and sale aisles, acquiring a basket full of stuff not on my list. Good post!

elizabeth cassidy,

elizabeth cassidy, CC Certified Life, Transition and Intuition Coach I started my life coaching business about 3 years ago and things are tough now. People don't think they deserve to take care of themselves or go after their dreams. But it is times like this when Revoln came to be along with Twinkies - so we can take the scary and rip its scary mask off and still be okay. I have learned to live on less and I do not see any changes in our lifestyles - just an appreciation for what we do have. going to check out those sistes. Thanks.
