DRUNK DRIVING...CONSIDER THIS YOUR WARNING!!!

Deterrence and detection of drunk and drugged drivers will be a focal point for Virginia State Police enforcement over the July 4 holiday weekend. Through Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.), a state-sponsored, national program, troopers will be on patrol statewide in an effort to reduce crashes, fatalities and injuries caused by impaired driving, speeding and failure to use occupant restraints. As a part of this annual enforcement campaign, State Police willincrease its visibility and trafficenforcement efforts throughout the Commonwealth beginning Friday, July 2, 2010, at 12:01 a.m. and continuing through midnight, Monday, July 5, 2010. see more at :www.vsp.state.va.us/

VIRGINIA FIREWORKS LAWS AND REGULATIONS

Fireworks are illegal in Alexandria, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Included in the ban are ground-based fireworks, sparklers and “snakes.”» Ground-based fireworks in Arlington, Fairfax and Prince William counties and Washington are permitted, but with provisions. The District’s policy bans any firework or firecracker that moves, explodes or emits a flame or spark of greater than 12 inches. Sparklers of less than 20 inches and other small, ground-based fireworks are permitted. In Arlington, Fairfax and Prince William counties, fireworks that explode, emit flames or emit sparks greater than 12 feet are prohibited. Explosives that travel laterally or rise into the air are also illegal. In Virginia, aerial firework displays are permitted with a valid permit on state-owned sites only. A separate application to possess or detonate fireworks must be filed and approved by the Virginia State Fire Marshal. read more...www.examiner.com/a-164435~Keeping_up_with_fireworks_laws.html
