WHERE TO BE IN THE DMV
TO LEARN MORE
ABOUT YOUR BLACK HISTORY!!

Take a look at this picture? It's hard to imagine that a human being would have to wear a sign declaring he is a man! One of these men could have easily been my Father. I am thankful that they were brave enough to stand up for OUR rights.
There is one man who doesn't have a sign draped on him, I wonder how much he sacrificed to march with them? To those who opposed the civil rights movement, he might as well have been black because he was protesting with them!
There are many pictures like this that I can post, and I will continue to post but right now I want to show places that will be observing and hosting special events for Black History Month.
Pick a weekend, get out of your house, take your family to experience and be a part of Black History.
I'm devoting this month to finding the best places in the DMV to learn MORE about Black History!

Good Stuff!
Too bad I don't live in the DMV, but there's tons of stuff down here in North Carolina as well! It's hard because I don't like to pigeonhole Black History into one month for 28 days. It should be 365. However, it is what it is. My goal is to at least read my children 28 books every day about people who look like them and who have helped to shape America, the country we call home!
Exactly...
And I have friends in NC that read this too. If you have anything that you would like me to post I will :)
My goal is to post something everyday pertaining to "My Black History"! and I shall
Let me know the books you're reading, I will suggest them to my facebook family as well, most of my friends have small children!
