The Riverside area, where our skirt! offices are, is flooding badly from the high tide of the St. Johns River. We’re supposed to get even more rain and flooding over the weekend, so we might have to swim to press.
I just spent the last twenty minutes in my bathtub, and I don’t think I’ve ever been much more scared for my life--except for a few almost car accidents. There was a tornado warning right down the street from me at the Avenues Mall (and near the airport, and in St. Augustine, and in Ponte Vedra, where other staff members live).
I hate tornadoes. I can’t think of a circumstance much scarier than the lights suddenly going out and a deep howling growing in intensity as you make way for your “safe room,” which, for me, is my bathroom. I moved my kitties and their food and my emergency kit with my am wind-up radio (put together haphazardly in my new Native Sun bag--thanks Marisa!) into my bathroom, with a little catnip to calm them down. They know mommy is freaking out when I lock them in the bathroom with me.
All tornado warnings have expired--yay! I never want to take my cell phone into my bathtub, again. I’m also really hungry, because in my anxiousness, I haven’t eaten in several hours. I need to get better at not freaking out. Stay safe, everyone!

So glad to hear you are okay. One little piece of advice: Keep your bathtub filled with water. If your city floods, the h20 treatment plant may get flooded, and you will lose your water supply for a day or so. This tub-full will come in handy for things like flushing toilets, providing kitties with water, water for washing hands, and boiling some if necessary for drinking. Take care.

It looks like everything is drying out this morning. Did you end up at the office yesterday? That would be really scary. I had to head back home late yesterday afternoon and had to change my direction 3 or 4 times with flooded streets.
