hello dear readers!
i have returned from the land of tea, the queen, wrong-side-of-road-driving, and a sport known as cricket.
i have returned with many lovely purchases like my dream boots, cheapie primark finds, a little zara and topshop and some fcuk sale schwag (that i forgot about until i recently unpacked that stack in my suitcase – it’s like christmas!).
i had a wonderful time, especially because by now i know my way around some places! i often get new-place anxiety which is a bit stupid for a person who says she likes to travel. the problem is that i like to travel and see new places, but i get tourist-phobia BIG TIME. i loathe taking pictures of myself in front of landmarks, talking too loudly (how american), asking for directions and mispronouncing things. i know. i’m a weenie.
having been around england a few times now, i was more than happy to go back and walk the streets tourist-style in two of my favorites places – bath and oxford.
here i am in bath, finally getting in touch with my tourist photo-posing side:

in oxford, in an arcade stall, i picked up something fabulous – and learned a new word: fascinator.
here i am at the wedding sporting my fascinator (and matt in tails!):

i’ll be going through more photos this weekend – stay tuned for the circus :)

Welcome back from good ol' England...a place I looove dearly, especially London, ohhhh- I say it's the pulse of the world. I will be going next August with an entire soccer club to London and Chester. By the way, where's hubby from (cute)...mine is from Liverpool :)

Retire your aversion to touristy pix, because you are so photogenic! Those are gorgeous! My favorite town in England is York. I saw an original, homespun production of "Wuthering Heights" there and was enraptured. "Trust Life's unfolding..."

Yes, the Lake District, and I am sure I must have been to Bristol...I need to ask my husband. Don't you just loooove English men!!!!????? I have my husband go back often to keep his accent intact! :) His accent is now 3/4 Liverpudlian and 1/4 American. I hope you had a great time!

your photos are really great, and thanks for the new word I can use with my anglophile daughter (who's announced that she's leaving forever for the UK as soon as she's done with high school). If you need a fascinator fix here in the states check out this artist's goods: http://www.galvinizedhats.com/lookbook.htm
when I visited her workshop I had an immediate urge to attend polo matches and to find a large handbag and matching pumps.

thanks for the tip - that's dangerous! and tell her she'd better start saving her money, i changed some money upon arrival and it was slightly more than a 2:1 exchange rate, ughhhh. when i was there for a semester, i just couldn't shop or anything, no excessive drinking, no dinners out with friends, i really had to pinch my pennies... on second thought, probably a good lesson to learn!

Please send me your bag from the first picture. Or at least a link to where I can buy it. I think I am in love.
