blogbarn.jpg

I took this picture over the weekend in small-town Tennessee. I’m an amateur photographer, with an uncanny obsession for pastoral scenery. My choice camera  an old Minolta that belonged to my father in the 1970s. Loaded with lens and flash, it nearly weighs as much as I do. For every promising photograph I take, I end up with nine trash-worthy ones. But, when it’s right, there is something so beautiful to me about being able to have a tangible expression of my perspective; to be able to hand someone an honest view of the world as I see it. It’s like a personal invitation to come behind the lens of my eyes and appreciate the simple decay of a roadside barn in the way that I do.

I have a 75-year-old Hasselblad and sorely miss film and heavy cameras. There is little to compare with the stunning sorcery of watching an image emerge in the darkroom from a vat of lifeless chemicals! "Trust Life's unfolding..."
