A Steady Breeze

Monday, August, 4, 2008

Every March, I fantasize about sinking three-pointers, which may be the best reason to call it March Madness.  And around the end of July every year, I start mulling my potential as a cyclist.  That may not be as crazy as it sounds.

OctOriginalCOL.jpgOutspokin’ on Devine Street has organized a weekly Women’s Ride

It’s a no-drop ride, which means they keep pace with the slowest rider.

Outspokin’ owner Brian Curran (who wore a skirt for us this past fall) is hoping that women who’ve been put off by group rides will give this one a chance.

Now might be a good time, since the sun sets later and cycling is much cooler than running.

The Biking Bettys, as they call themselves, sound like a welcoming, not-too-vicious group.  Their ride might even be manageable for those of us whose training so far consists of sitting on the couch for three weeks and watching the Tour de France.

You can find more details about the ride this week on their website--for day and time call 803.254.9797.
