I get the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in my inbox each morning. By the time I get it, I’ve usually seen/heard the stories on ABC, the AJC’s sister company. Yesterday the feature story (i.e. the one with a picture) was Is Our Giant Panda Pregnant (Again)?
I love days like that.
I know, it seems like a waste. I mean, why do we have news if there aren’t reports of death, destruction, famine, and other monumental defeats? But to me, when there is nothing “better” to report on, it’s another day that I don’t watch the second plane go into the World Trade Center, human rights being violated by a clueless government, the eye of a huge storm threatening the levees, or any other horrible event that sends ripples into the world. I’d much rather have a new panda any day.
Don’t get me wrong, I know life isn’t all sunshine and roses, but too much is just that. I finally went numb in the late hours waiting to find out who actually won the last 2 presidential elections. It grew as tired as I did. And it was disappointing when I woke up and found out we didn’t know or that the better candidate conceeded despite the closeness of the race. No biggie. Al Gore is doing more for the enviornment in his current role than he could have ever done tied up in red tape in the Oval office.
I love slow news days. No news at 11? Good, find a kid in the park learning to ride a bike and talk about the weather.
Enjoy!

I am a MUCH nicer bitch when people aren't dying and we aren't covering countries being destroyed every night at 10.... I am finding that my psyche is MAD effected by reading, watching and listening to all the crap meant to frighten us into submission. I'll take roses, puppies and pandas any day!
