A Creature of Habit

Thursday, October, 18, 2007
I am pitifully lacking in creativity when it comes to cooking. When I find a recipe I like, I stick with it until I’m sick of eating it. Ditto music. I have played Lucinda Williams’ latest cd, West, so much that I have to put it on the back shelf until I can bring it out and hear again in a fresh way. I’m like a two-year-old who can watch the same episode of Sponge Bob over and over and over and laugh uproariously each time. When I’m sick of making my latest concoction for the  umpteenth time in a row (wild mushrooms sauteed with olive oil and thyme over whole wheat spaghettini with fresh parmesan grated on top), I turn to Orangette, my favorite food blog, for inspiration. I love love love her chick pea salad for my lunch box.

OK - if one thing, or person, can make me do something for the first time at my age, 49, it's could only be the mention of Lucinda Williams. I've enjoyed reading some blogs on some sites, but have never felt moved to make any comment, until now. I found skirt! through a link from Leanne Morgan's website and wish we had skirt! in the Nashville area. Getting back to Lucinda, I appreciate that you appreciate her - maybe you can help me decide where to tattoo my favorite line from my favorite song..... kim

Ok, I've got to know what the line is going to be. I have one tattoo on my wrist (an infinity spiral) and I want to get another one on the instep of my foot. Not sure what it will be yet. Nikki

Because I WILL live at the beach someday, this line keeps me going toward that goal....and the love aspect's not so bad, either. "I wanna watch the ocean bend the edges of the sun then I wanna get swallowed up in an ocean of love." I'm researching tattoo artists now.....shooting for one of Kat's gals from Miami Ink - now there's a goal!!! Please tell me you've experienced Lucinda in person. kim

~nikki yes, I saw her in Charleston, missed her in Austin, almost got to Austin a second time for Austin Music Festival and didn't make it. She can do no wrong in my eyes. I had my tattoo done in Hawaii and would like to have the second one done there too, just for sentimental reasons. Or in Austin.
