My first Breast Cancer walk...

Friday, July, 25, 2008

Hey Atlantans and OTP’ers! I am walking for Team Skirt! in the Atlanta Breast Cancer 2-Day Walk. New Balance is sponsoring us with these cute little walking skirts and our shirts are gonna be awesome.

I never thought I’d walk in one of these things. I am blessed with a family history that has never included cancer on either side. (We’re Diabetes and Alzheimer folks.) But several of my mom’s friends and the mothers of my close friends in recent years have battled the disease and won. So I figured it was time to walk and celebrate them.

On the left side of our home page is a link to a sign up sheet. Or click here to register. Please consider giving up one weekend of your life to help save the lives of others.

I was all set to do the Tampa Bay 3-Day, 60 mile walk in Nov this year, even had about 47% of my $2200 raised, when I was diagnosed with my own cancer and had to drop out. I am so excited for you- these are such wonderful programs and are supposed to be amazing experiences. Best of luck to you!

I admire your devotion to a good cause. And, though I used participate in lots of outdoor activities in the Atlanta area, the air quality has changed so just recently that I have to check the weather report before actually showing up. Am I the only one reacting this way?
