Last night, my husband and I went to see Avenue Q at the Belk Theatre in Uptown, and I have to say – I haven’t laughed that much (or that hard) in a long, long time.
If you haven’t heard about it, Avenue Q is a Tony Award-winning musical with a cast of live characters...and puppets. It’s like Sesame Street, but all grown up (and completely sarcastic). Two of the characters are monsters.
The musical begins with a song called “It Sucks to Be Me,” which, if you’re interested, you can find on YouTube here. The video quality isn’t so great, but you’ll get the idea.
If you can get tickets, you should go. You will probably find yourself a little uncomfortable, possibly during the song “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist,” or maybe during the full puppet nudity (I am not making this up), but you will most definitely be entertained.

"full puppet nudity."
I'm cracking up just thinking about it!
