I’m sitting at the desk in my office, watching trucks screech to a halt in front of my
house and waiting for the power company and tree experts to show up.
When I went out this morning to take a walk, I found a giant limb down on the sidewalk, and the power line draped low across the street.
I didn’t hear anything but according
to my neighbors, the limb (the size of a tree itself) came crashing down around 3am, well after yesterday’s storm was over. Both SCE&G and the city have been trying their best; I know they’re swamped with people who have it much worse.
Still, I hope they can get here soon. The last truck to nearly take down the power line (just 15 minutes ago) was ironically enough, a tree removal truck.
Hope you made it through yesterday’s wild weather intact.
And if you’re headed down Maple Street between Millwood and Devine, slow down and watch out for low-hanging power lines.
PS: 2:10pm update
The utility crew is lifting the power line right now, so low clearance on Maple Street should no longer be a problem by 3pm.
Still, there’s no reason to speed through the neighborhood, okay?
