He answers, but did YOU ask?
Is it a form of marital infidelity when HE goes to the doctor or the Internet pharmaceutical shop and buys himself...
(Shhhhh.......) Erection insurance?
I think one of the most interesting statistics about sexuality is about ED (erectile dysfunction...in case you didn’t know that from the TV advertisements that became commonplace post Bob Dole). I was, personally, pretty shocked...and kind of worried in a future thought sort of way when I thought about my own relationship...to find out that the percentage of men with ED is statistically equal to his numerical age.
I didn’t have to 4.0 Calculus to figure this out (but I did, which is a funky sex therapist side stat)..but this MEANS:
If your husband is 30...there is 30% chance he has experienced mild to moderate ED.
If your male partner is 40...there is a 40% chance he has 3experienced mild to moderate ED.
If your partner is 50...I think you understand the meaning of this statistic by now.
Wow!
No wonder millions of men have gone to get a Viagra (or Levitra or Cialis) RX by the time they are 50 years old!!!
Another interesting fact that I happen to know as a sex therapist is this: Men only have to experience a sexual “failure” TWICE before they FREAK OUT and worry about their ability to perform. This means that after only TWO times that intimate encounters do not go as planned, men either avoid sex or they seek a solid solution, including medical erection insurance.
[Aside here: Can you imagine a woman seeking medical intervention after two sexual encounters that do not include a climax?].
Which brings this blog back to the beginning:
Is it a form of marital infidelity when HE goes to the doctor or the Internet pharmaceutical shop and buys himself erection insurance?
As a sex therapist, my opinion is clear:
While a man has a right to do with his body what he wants to do, he has a responsibility to ask a his partner/woman what she wants, too. Together, they might come to a better tomorrow.
Sound familiar?
Ask and you shall receive...perhaps more than the insurance guarantees.

I ALMOST stopped after the calculus part....hives, you know? I'm not sure how I feel about this one. As you are aware, I am in the middle of a little gardening experiment with a man that hasn't had ED EVAH..... if the WIND blows lightly in his direction..... If I were to put myself in the umm, shoes of a man having this problem, I could see the embarrassment that could be there, and the possible desire to "fix" things without bringing it to the attention of his partner. I shall marinate on it more....
