They’re celebrating Bastille Day in France today, a good reason to watch a little Tour de France on the tube, indulge in some steak frites, or check out David Lebovitz’s new website.
I met David when I took his chocolate tour of Paris. (He introduced me to Pierre Marcolini, merci.) A pastry chef who worked in San Francisco for years, David moved to Paris a few years ago. I love to read his blog because he lives in what I think of as “my” neighborhood in Paris--sort of snugged between the Marais and the Bastille. I’ve actually run into him while shopping at the Bastille market, a market he blogs about frequently.
Also, a happy b-day to a couple of friends born on Bastille Day--Margaret Clarkson and Reid Buckley. Reid was born in Paris on July 14, 1930.
