Yahoo! If you’ve been reading my blogs, or my editor’s letters, or just about anything I’ve written over the last four months, you’ll know that I’ve been pining away for my husband, who’s British and has been waiting for his VISA to come through.
Well, this morning, at long last, we finished the VISA process. He had an interview at the US Embassy in London, was given “the golden handshake” (as he calls it), and was told that he’ll receive his Passport with VISA inside in about a week. This means that we’ll FINALLY be together, after way, way, WAY too long of a wait, in about a week and a half.
I’m pretty excited – I can’t wait to see him – and I’m trying to focus on that instead of the many disappointments and obstacles we’ve faced over the past four months. I know that the immigration process has tightened since September 11, but this has been ridiculous! In fact, the first three months weren’t even tight security, they were just the government being slooooooow. Our application sat in someone’s file folder until the middle of April, and we sent it to them on January 21st.
When I moved to England after our wedding, my VISA process with the British Embassy took about 2 weeks.
Anyway, I could go on, but I won’t. Today, I’m just going to savor this Victory.
Finally, finally, finally...

I completely get where you're coming from. My husband and I have been together for almost six years now, but have been married just shy of one year. In that one year, our first year of marriage, we had to live apart (for various reasons) for nine months. It's been...interesting. And hard.
