Weight a minute!

Wednesday, May, 21, 2008

The summer months are upon us and everyone is thinking bathing suit weather.  How to loose those extra 5 to 10 pounds before June.

Everyday I pass this bill board that advertises how to loose weight with injections. There is this Doctors face along with his credentials advocating this way of weight loss.  What is this world coming to!  We are so focused on the quick fix and easy way out in with something that took months even years.  It doesn’ t just happen over night!

Let me tell you a story.  When growing up in New York in a large Italian family.  Food was the focus of Love and comfort.  At the age of 12 I was 165 pounds with a small stature.  Hopefully you get the picture.  In school they use to call me Anellaphant.  The teenager years were upon me and wanting to do the prom and party things, especially boys was my motivation.  My mom was great!  She started me on the foundational principles of weight loss.  The success was 40 pound loss and a life long lesson in keeping it off.

So if you want to loose an extra 10 pounds it can be done very easily with a few modifications.  We are a society of Sugar, caffine, and carbohydrates.  Just take three days and list everything that you put in your mouth.  Along with writing down why, when, where, and how you feel when  your eating it.  Our society tends to eat out of an emotional response.  Even though we are not hungry.   Being more aware of what your eating and attempting to eliminate one of the three evils will yield results.  Many people who have had successful weight loss have mentioned that eliminating sugar, like in sodas.  They were able to loose weight just by making one change.

Another areas we tend to be excessive in society is the amount of food we eat.  We don’t need to eat everything on our plates.  I recommend to people if the food is touching on the plate then there is to much.  By looking at portion control and how much we eat.   This can be hughe difference in weight reduction.  Less calories equals the inches and pounds coming off.  If you want to eat more then you have to excerise more in order to burn excess calories that will other wise be stored as fat.

Another big point to make in successful weight loss is don’t eat food after 7 o’clock in the evening.  Raiding that refrigerator late at night.  You see your body is winding down and has no energy to burn the food your consuming.  So where does it end up in the areas you don’t want.  Modifying what you do can lead to small steps in weight loss success.

Here are three things that you can implement on a daily routine.  If you add 30 minute walk atleast three times per week  I know what your saying I can’t fit it into my schedule.  Well you take a lunch break every day.  If an hour break walk the first thirty minutes and eat the rest of the time alloted.  Then that bathing suit your longing to wear in the summer is a reachable goal.

eeegads.. that would be a tough one for me (and for my husband). i am a night snacker--but i eat so lousy during the day running here and there. i love to eat a few pieces of cheddar and pretzels before bed. I just started running again (when the walking thing wasn't cutting it for me) and maybe i'll cut out night time snacks too.
