In This I Believe
By Angelia, Friday, March 13, 2009i believe in blinking cursors on a white screen
giving letters to a world I've never met
i believe in sex as an act
and love as a process
in people to be selfish and
institutions to be worthless
-though their teachings are necessary
poems, in minds or on paper, should not be justified
and eaten away by negative space
i believe these things to be true:
all men are created equal
all women are bewitched from thin air
that the Hell in our lives is not Heaven on Earth. (someone had to prove there is no glory here or there).
my interests
compound daily
graduate each semester
and
dance unpredictably in the wind. i am in love.
so i lack disbelief
Reflections
It’s hard to sum up in words all the things that I believe in. God is my foundation and no one experience can really soapbox that for me. I have come to a place where despite finances and attaining the educational and career goals I set for myself, I am happy -without those things. It makes attaining those things weightless. I like waking up in the morning now. I love hitting the water in my canoe and feeling weightless. I smile at church instead of cry (though i know there will be more tears to come) but all in all, life is tough. We have to find what works for us and cling to it until we find something that compliments that. Nothing thats good for you will remove something else in your life that is perfecting you. So I am stacking the good up on my side and not investing too much in everything else like schools, politics and banks. Those things will always be here. They always have. I will not.
